BYU football is on some sort of roll right now along the recruiting path, as heavily recruited defensive lineman Maa'imoa Havili (better known as Moa) just announced his commitment to Kalani Sitake's program over offers from giants like Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, and more.

Put that image in the MOA, if you know what I mean.

Towering at 6'3", 290 lbs, Havili has dominated at Granger High School in Salt Lake City, and his commitment marks not only a recruiting win on the national stage, but just as importantly the local stage, beating out the University of Utah program just down the road from Havili's home field.

Moa is a defensive demon, a terror of the backfield, and the spector at scrimmage. In his junior season, Havili tallied a grand total of 102 tackles -- a disgusting 46 of those being tackles for loss. He hit the quarterback 23 times, converted 13 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. This is a man among boys, and it's clear why some of the most prestigious names in the nation threw their hats in the ring for his services; Havili projects to be a matchup nightmare for offensive lines across the Big 12.

His commitment comes soon after another recent recruiting win, Ryan Wooten Jr., who is considered one of the highest-rated cornerback recruits in program history, and four-star defensive lineman Jeremiah Williams. Simply put, Kalani Sitake, Kelly Poppinga, and the rest of the recruiting staff are on an unprecedented run of success and plan to push the program to greater heights than ever before. Eyes on a berth to the College Football Playoff, BYU football is reloading after two double-digit win seasons and last year's trip to the Big 12 championship game.

Havili is the 10th-rated recruit in the state of Utah, per 247 Sports, and the Cougars' best Utahn commitment in the class of 2027 to this point.
