BYU football finally won a recruiting struggle against the Oklahoma Sooners. After missing out on Bode Sparrow and Krew Jones -- the number-one and number-three ranked recruits, respectively -- each to the former Big 12 shark now smelling blood in the Utahn recruiting waters, Kalani Sitake and his team were not intent on losing another big-time prospect to the very same team.

Instead, BYU managed to secure the commitment of Uhila Wolfgramm, a 4-star Maple Mountain High School product out of Spanish Fork, Utah. And if you haven't been properly introduced to Wolfgramm, please allow me the honor of doing so.

Standing at 6'3", 245 lbs, Wolfgramm has plenty of size for an edge rusher, one of the most important positions on the defensive side of the football, but somehow packs unexpected quantities of strength and agility that make him project to start on Kelly Poppinga's defensive line sooner rather than later.

Don't be surprised to see Wolfgramm take the field often as a freshman, even if not yet in a starting role.

He amazed scouts and coaches at the Utah Ballers Trench Warfare camp, where he immediately stood out as a prospect heads and shoulders above his peers.

"Wolfgramm was the most impressive guy in the gym physically, he really stood out. I don’t think a lot of people know of him yet, because if they did, he’d have every offer in the country. This is another example of a 4-star type player -- roll the tape, then see him in person. You’ll be glad you did. His ceiling is as high as anyone; take that to the bank. I’m holding him to a standard next season that is reserved for the best of the best. He knows that, and he’s about to make that standard the new normal."

Just take a look at this clip of Wolgramm working out and running drills at the camp. You'll see the fear in his matchup's eyes, the horrible realization of hopelessness, and finally the resignation of simply not matching the sheer force of the athlete tearing down the field toward the quarterback.

Uhila Wolfgramm is a special type of talent -- especially as a local kid from nearby Maple Mountain within 30 minutes of BYU campus. This is a significant recruiting win for BYU football for many reasons, most of which should be incredibly obvious.
