BYU Football had a heck of a year in 2024. They won 11 out of 13 games and pulled off a few stunning upsets. Last year, BYU was expected to win 4.5 games. The Cougars blew expectations out of the water, more than doubling their expected win total. BYU won the Alamo Bowl 36-14 over the Colorado Buffaloes.
BYU has some good players returning from last year. Starting quarterback Jake Retzlaff and reliable kicker Will Ferrin have been key in BYU's success, and both players are returning for 2025. They'll return some key defensive players, such as Jack Kelly and Harrison Taggart, who were major factors last season.
The Cougs also boast strong coaching, with Kalani Sitake at the helm and great coordinators assisting him. Aaron Roderick works hard to get the offense going, and Jay Hill has the defense fighting. BYU is a good team, and the hype is building.

BYU in 2025 could be even better. Incoming transfers, along with returning players, could make BYU a more dangerous opponent this fall. The Cougars have become stronger, and this year, the Big 12 is anyone's to grab. If BYU can take the momentum from last year's season into this year, they could be hard to stop.
Hill's defense led the nation in interceptions last year and scored points aplenty off of them. When the offense was hot, they could score and score. Taking no plays off, special teams could also score big, with kick returns and big field goals when they are needed most.
I see BYU improving next year. Offense, defense, and special teams all promise to remain talented, and the coaching is wonderful. If BYU is locked in and stays focused, it could be a great season for the Cougars. BYU has it there for the taking, and it will be interesting to see how they do.
