BYU football strikes again with another outstanding cornerback prospect. This time, it's Georgia native Kamoni Adams, the Cougars' second cornerback recruit from the Peach State (Therrian Alexander). He announced his commitment following this past weekend's official visit to BYU's campus and facilities.

Kamoni was heavily recruited out of high school, and chose BYU over offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Arizona State, Maryland, Florida State, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UCF, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and many, many more.

Out of Kell High School in Marrietta, Georgia, Adams is the 77th-rated cornerback in the class of 2027, according to 247 Sports. An absurd athlete and an immense talent, BYU's defense is enjoying a revolutionary recruiting season despite having lost defensive coordinator Jay Hill to Michigan over the offseason.

Sports Illustrated brought to light just how strong BYU's new cornerbacks coach, Lewis Walker, has been in his first year out on the recruiting trail, as he's snared three fantastic cornerback prospects in his first time up to bat -- possibly the strongest secondary class in the program's entire history.

"New BYU cornerbacks coach Lewis Walker has made quite the impression in his first offseason recruiting at BYU. Adams is the third cornerback to commit to BYU in the 2027 class, and he is joined by fellow commits Demichael Burks and Ryan Wooten Jr. You can make the argument that Adams, Burks, and Wooten Jr. is the best trio of cornerbacks that BYU has ever signed in the same recruiting class."

"Walker has gone coast-to-coast to compile this class. Wooten Jr. is a native of Jersey, Adams is from Georgia, and Burks is from Nevada. He also had to go up against some of the biggest brands in the sport to land them. Burks, Wooten Jr., and Adams compiled a total of 59 scholarship offers."

It's truly an unprecedented time for BYU football coming off of two consecutive double-digit-win seasons in a power conference, and is maintaining its upwards trajectory despite significant shakeup on the defensive coaching staff. Adams' commitment is a marker of just how far BYU has come, and just how deep the Cougars' secondary could be in the years to come.

Kalani Sitake and BYU have historically been forced to deliver stronger results with less traditional talent than their peers. Kamoni Adams joins the team as another major recruiting victory, and a sign that they can push beyond the limitations of yesterday's BYU football program.
